We are pleased to share an exciting project from a local Chinese Canadian filmmaker.

Seeking Wh(y) is a documentary by Kingston filmmaker Kaycee Leigh, who returns to China to search for the father who left when she was a child in the 1990s. Now a mother of three boys, she retraces her past to explore identity, family history, and the stories we pass on to the next generation. The project recently won the Script-to-Screen pitch competition at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival.

We have a meaningful volunteer opportunity and hope someone will step forward.

Through a referral from Ontario Health at Home, we have been asked to support an elderly gentleman over 90 years of age, living at a local retirement residence. He speaks Mandarin and faces significant language barriers in his daily life. A friendly visit and a conversation in his own language would make a real difference to him.

We are looking for one or more Mandarin-speaking volunteers who are willing to visit him on a regular basis. The commitment is flexible — even once or twice a month is meaningful.

Applications are open to students of Chinese heritage across Canada. Awards are available for secondary students (12 categories, $1,500 each), post-secondary athletics and medical school students ($3,000 each), and family medicine residents ($5,000).

Dear Members,

We are pleased to announce that the Chinese Canadian Association of Kingston and District has launched its new website at https://ccakd.ca/

The new site brings together everything members need in one place. Through the members' portal, you can check your membership status, review payment history, and renew your membership online. The events page is updated regularly, with online registration available for upcoming activities. Programs, videos, and announcements are all accessible on the site in both English and Chinese.

The photo gallery is a particular highlight. It spans over eighty years of our community's history, opening with photographs from the 1945 WWII Victory Celebration and continuing through decades of Lunar New Year banquets, children's Christmas parties, folk arts festivals, dragon boat gatherings, and summer picnics. These images capture the lives of generations of Chinese Canadians in Kingston — our shared past, preserved in one place.

This community belongs to all of us. CCAKD has grown over the years because of the dedication and participation of every member. The new website is one step forward, but the future of our community depends on each of us. We encourage you to explore the site, get involved in upcoming events, and share the news with friends and family.

注册物理治疗师冯程英女士将带来约60分钟的健康讲座，内容涵盖跌倒预防、肌少症、骨质疏松与平衡训练，并提供现场自测评估及实用动作示范。讲座结束后，认证茶艺师 Kaoru（Cha Cha Tea 创始人）将主持品茶环节，配以 Sodexo 精美茶点。您也可以自带乐器吹拉弹唱，或与新朋友对弈棋牌，尽享悠闲时光。

Registered Physiotherapist Chengying Feng will lead an approximately 60-minute wellness workshop covering fall prevention, sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and balance training, including a live self-assessment and practical exercises. Afterward, certified tea sommelier Kaoru (founder of Cha Cha Tea, Kingston's beloved loose-leaf tea shop since 2006) will host a guided tea tasting, accompanied by catered refreshments from Sodexo. Feel free to bring an instrument, join a card game, or simply meet someone new.
